SimpleBackr now has restores! After you're backup is done and you receive your backup is complete email, you'll see a link on your backup report to "Restore from this backup".
Just click that, enter your destination SimpleDB credentials and start the restore process. That's it!
And like the backup process, restores are also free... as in free lunch.
I think that might be approaching the maximum number of times one could put the word "simple" into a single title. ;)
ReplyDeleteSo... is it hard to use?
ReplyDeleteAny roadmap for getting restores "really" working?
ReplyDeleteIssues:
* Need to be able to select a backup to restore (not just the one that just completed).
* Nice to be able to restore from one AWS S3 account to a different AWS SDB account.
Thanks!

Hi Eric,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment. The projects been a bit slow due to another launch, SimpleDeployr.com, however it's important that we get SimpleBackr to the next stage.
If I were to guess, probably sometime in the next 45-60 days....

Hi Eric,
ReplyDeleteThanks for trying out SimpleBackr!
In response to your points:
1) You can restore any one of your backups as long as you keep the email with the link to your backup set. I'll admit it's not the best way to keep track of your backups, but we do plan to have a better way of managing your backup sets down the road.
2) As for your second point, that is already in there. Try a restore and it will ask you for your destination credentials.
